What a bunch of …

January 30, 2008

What a bunch of things to be thankful for.  I am so glad I took my sick children to the Dr. yesterday.  I am so glad I was planning on cleaning the nursery at church and therefor told Brandon’s Grandparents that I couldn’t take Oma to the Dr today (both because of the roads and because I would have had to cancel on them with the girls being sick).  I am so glad that my husband got the 4 wheeler running so I don’t have to shovel the 1-2 foot drift across my driveway.  I am so thankful that we got new replacement windows last summer.  I am so thankful that we picked up the Turbo Tax Software from my SIL monday so we could work on that last night since I was not going to go scrapping as I had planned.  I am thankful that my husband is probably the most patient man on the planet.  I am so thankful to have groceries in the cupboard so I do not have to go out of the house today.

I guess that’s all that I can think of right off the top of my head.  Have a great snow day

Prayers Needed

January 29, 2008

Hi everybody,

I am hoping you would be willing to pray for my friend Kristina from Ohio, she is about 33 weeks into her pregnancy and she has been put on bedrest due to contractions.  At this point she is not heading into full labor but she is in the hospital for monitoring.  Please pray for her and her family that they will have peace.  If you would like to read more of her story or leave a message for her you can visit her site at: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kristinasbaby thanks so much.

Driveway Duty

January 27, 2008

Hurrah! I’m done with driveway duty!  Brandon got the 4 wheeler (not ours-we store it for my dad and then we can use it) running and put on the plow.  Now I only have to shovel the driveway if I want to.

Craft Night

January 26, 2008

We had a craft night at church last night.  I didn’t get a lot done but I got started and now I’m on a roll….I’m even scrapping with the children home..awake!  This is major progress for me.  I usually don’t like to get out all my stuff for fear they’ll spill something on it or knock something over and I’ll have to start all over.  I think I was tramatized years ago when I had all my scrapping stuff on a card table in the basement and Sam learned how to climb on chairs.  Apparently she thought it looked like fun and started checking out my stuff.  A few things got a little crumpled but the biggest problem was that she accidentally knocked my boxes of photo’s (that I had just finally gotten organized) onto the floor and I had to go through them all over again.  So anyway, I’m getting back on track and having fun all at the same time=)

Scrapbooking Hint:

If you are on a roll and run out of adhesive, don’t stop!  I still work on my layouts and then take a picture with my cell phone so I remember how I had everything layed out and then I can continue with the next page.

Digging out/Snow Day

January 22, 2008

So I just got in from shoveling the driveway -okay 3/4 of the driveway…alright 2/3 then.  It took me an hour and 10 minutes! I would say we had 6-8 inches since I shoveled yesterday afternoon around 3:30.  At the end of the driveway you could see where the bottom of the car had scraped along the snow when Brandon left this morning.  I actually had to change the way I was shoveling because the snow piles that line the driveway are waist high!  I always say if it’s going to be bitter cold, at least it could snow=)

I think one of the best things about being a stay-at-home mom is snow days.  I don’t have to scramble to find a sitter, I actually have more time to get the children going and I have the big girls home to occupy the little one.  I hope to get a lot done today.  With any luck, I may put them all to work :) Now of course you have the occational, was going to take the little one to the doctor and now I have to drag them all along, but it is not often.

Thank You Thank You

January 20, 2008

Thanks so much to those who were praying for me this morning, once again I had wonderful peace as I presented Joshua’s story this morning. We truely have been blessed. I am so thankful that we were encouraged to carry Joshua by all those around us and that his life was valued. I can’t imagine how much harder it would have been if we felt others did not see the value of his life.

Random

January 20, 2008

I was tagged back in November by Diane from MyJourneysPath to name 8 random things about myself so here they are:

#8 I am a middle child of two brothers and two sisters

#7 I am a licensed cosmetologist and cosmetology instructor

#6 I like hot chocolate with a mint melted in it

#5 I have a condition called pectus excavatum

#4 I am older than my husband (by 4 months and 3 days)

#3 I have traveled to Canada, Germany, and Nasau Bahamas

#2 At one time I was a pampered chef consultant

#1 I am a scrapbooker

There, I’m done!  That was way more difficult than coming up with the wierd things.  Once again I’m the last one to get the things so If you read this consider yourself tagged.

I think that catches me up on all of the stuff I’ve been putting off.

Moving foreward.

January 19, 2008

Today seemed like a good day to take down our Christmas tree.  I know it’s a bit late but, we’ve been busy.  Don’t ask me with what because I’m not sure I could tell you, but just lots of little things.  That was the last of the stuff to put away so onward and foreward!  Only a few weeks ’till Erica’s b-day(Feb 13) and I need to get the rest of the house shaped up.

Tomorrow is scheduled to be a big day, I’m suposed to speak about Joshua and Right to Life at both services at our church and at my mom’s church in between.  We’ll see what the weather does to that plan but prayers would be appreciated.

Award!

January 19, 2008

bff-award.jpgMary, from My little corner of the World has blessed me with an award (she actually sent in October and I have just now figured out how to link it). This is the Blog Friend Forever Award and this is the description of the award:

“Presented to awesome blog owners who keep their readers excited about their posts. Their blog posts are interesting (NOT spammy) and worth reading and keep their subscribers looking forward to each and every post.”
I would like to pass this on to Jennifer from Zaankali’s Adventures

Meme

January 18, 2008

Okay so I’m finally going to figure out how to do these “forward” type things on my blog.  I know I have been “tagged” before but I just didn’t have time to figure out how to get it all connected, so here we go.

Jennifer tagged me to do this Meme (rhymes with dream)

Seven weird things about me in no particular order:

#7 I like rainy overcast days

#6 Each summer we take the girls to my Great Aunt’s cottage in Howard City for a week and I stay inside and read almost the whole time

#5 I make my own Laundry soap

#4 I don’t like other people to wash my dishes

#3 I enjoy ironing

#2 I sort and organize things on shelves at the store if they are messy and I’m looking for something

#1 I don’t like my foods to touch

I have to say that in reading other people’s lists, I had to revise some of my items because it would appear that some of my “issues” are not so strange after all (don’t drink coffee or eat banket -and I’m Dutch!)  Sadly the hardest part of this was narrowing down which of my weird things to put out there.

So anyway as part of this meme I am supposed to tag 7 other people to do it however, I only know two people who haven’t already been tagged so  Lindsey and Darrell, you’re on.
