The run around
July 29, 2008
I had another OB check up yesterday. Things seem to be going well. The baby was giving the nurse the run around while she was trying to check the heart rate. Every time she would get the doppler in the right spot and start to be able to count beats, it would move and she’d have to start over. The doctor gave me some idea’s about what to do for my headaches and they ordered an EKG to check on the odd heartbeats I’ve been having but they said they don’t think it’s anything serious, just related to higher blood volume etc. from pregnancy. I am glad they are checking just to be sure though. At our next appointment we get to have another ultrasound and we should be able to find out what it is …provided it cooperates.
How time flies
July 26, 2008
Wow, I thought this summer I would have more time to write. We haven’t even been that busy but I’m so tired all the time. My ususal time to post is at night after the kids go to bed but lately I’m lucky if I manage to not fall asleep before they do. I did finally manage to figure out what was wrong with my blog and get that corrected with help from the facebook support people. Somehow I had managed to paste the html stuff for the Michigan Adventure slide show twice and that made it too long and hence the odd alignment. My hubby was quite proud of me that I was able to go into the html part and delete only the part I needed to.
Would you believe that while we were at my Aunt’s cottage a couple of weeks ago we didn’t take a single picture. We realized this the last night we were there, so I decided to at least get a picture of the girls in front of the cottage before we left the next day but we were in such a hurry to get to my family reunion that I forgot that too. Maybe we’ll have to stop on the way to my grandparents one of these days yet this summer.
flippin genious genes
July 1, 2008
Some of you may have read my husbands blog post from several months ago if not check here and this may make more sense. Erica is, I’m afraid to admit, my child. She is much more emotional than her father and has the temper from my side of the family, she apparently also received my flippin genious genes. I have no doubt that in the event of a catastrophic disaster, Erica would not only survive but possibly thrive…the kid is always thinking. Today we were out in the garden picking raspberries and replacing bamboo stakes (thanks Jacob and Lauren) and the girls wanted to pick a few of the radishes (incidentally if anyone needs radishes we have some for you just say the word). When they were done Erica was going to take them in the house. Apparently, knowing her mommy would not approve of bringing dirty produce into the house, she decided she should wash them. Now how do you rinse off vegetables? Why with a collander of course or if you have no collander …apparently a bike helmet will do. Chalk one up for inginuity. Then later while we were doing her meds at bed time, I catch her trying to get the cap off of one of her pill bottles (the hold the tab down and while twisting the top off variety)…no sucess. So she moves on to a new bottle (the push down and twist variety) …the little bugger got the top off! I said Erica you little stinker. She says “what…they tell you how right on the top.” I guess they don’t figure most six year olds can read the directions let alone successfully exicute them. So needless to say we had a little talk about how we don’t ever take pills without a grown-up’s help. Her response was well at least I can get them out if you are too tired (you’d think I’d been parenting alone this week and made her read her bed time story to me because I couldn’t keep my eyes open …oh wait I did that =0) Good thing my darling husband is coming home tomorrow. Hope my spelling isn’t too bad, I can’t find my spell checker.
