flippin genious genes
July 1, 2008
Some of you may have read my husbands blog post from several months ago if not check here and this may make more sense. Erica is, I’m afraid to admit, my child. She is much more emotional than her father and has the temper from my side of the family, she apparently also received my flippin genious genes. I have no doubt that in the event of a catastrophic disaster, Erica would not only survive but possibly thrive…the kid is always thinking. Today we were out in the garden picking raspberries and replacing bamboo stakes (thanks Jacob and Lauren) and the girls wanted to pick a few of the radishes (incidentally if anyone needs radishes we have some for you just say the word). When they were done Erica was going to take them in the house. Apparently, knowing her mommy would not approve of bringing dirty produce into the house, she decided she should wash them. Now how do you rinse off vegetables? Why with a collander of course or if you have no collander …apparently a bike helmet will do. Chalk one up for inginuity. Then later while we were doing her meds at bed time, I catch her trying to get the cap off of one of her pill bottles (the hold the tab down and while twisting the top off variety)…no sucess. So she moves on to a new bottle (the push down and twist variety) …the little bugger got the top off! I said Erica you little stinker. She says “what…they tell you how right on the top.” I guess they don’t figure most six year olds can read the directions let alone successfully exicute them. So needless to say we had a little talk about how we don’t ever take pills without a grown-up’s help. Her response was well at least I can get them out if you are too tired (you’d think I’d been parenting alone this week and made her read her bed time story to me because I couldn’t keep my eyes open …oh wait I did that =0) Good thing my darling husband is coming home tomorrow. Hope my spelling isn’t too bad, I can’t find my spell checker.

What a smart little bugger. I love the bike helmet as a strainer.

Hey Dawn,
What is up in your world? How have you been feeling? Any doctor’s appointments coming up?
I start back to school next Friday, July 31, for our first teacher work day. I can’t believe it’s that time of the year again.
Tell your little smarties, we say hi.
Love,
Laur
